Wormy Chestnut Table

The gorgeous wormy chestnut in this table came from a very old barn in East Tennessee. As you may know, chestnut is extinct, and the character and richness of texture and color in this reclaimed lumber is unmatched.

Wormy Chestnut table top

A closeup of the top of this table shows the beauty of the chestnut more clearly; but it's nothing like in person! Note the breadboard ends. All the holes contain a clear filling, so the top of the table is smooth, despite appearances.

Wormy Chestnut table detail

Square pegs, on diagonal, are used to connect the base. A rounded lip edges the bottom of the sides and ends for comfort and added beauty.

Wormy Chestnut table leg

This image of one of the tapered legs doesn't do justice to the unusual patterning added to the chestnut by its many years as weathering barnwood.

Wormy Chestnut table rub

Multiple layers of hand-finishing go into making this beautiful table.
